Gum Grafting And Scalpel Free Rejuvenation
Dr. Sandlas performs gum grafting procedures to help patients with gum recession. This treatment helps to improve the appearance of one’s smile and alleviate various issues associated with gum recession, such as teeth sensitivity, damage to gum tissue, and bone loss. Gum grafting can protect teeth and their roots from decay and create a more even gumline. Dr. Sandlas is also trained in the pinhole surgical technique, the least invasive procedure for reversing gum recession. This technique requires no grafting or sutures, resulting in a shorter healing period and easier recovery.
Pocket Reduction Surgery
Dr. Sandlas can perform dental pocket reduction surgery, a standard treatment for patients with periodontal disease. This condition causes deterioration of gum tissue and bone along the gumline, resulting in the formation of “pockets” around the teeth. As these pockets become larger, more bacteria get around the teeth and under the gum tissue, leading to further loss of bone and gum tissue until the tooth is lost. If your pockets are too deep to clean with a routine cleaning procedure, you will need a pocket reduction surgery. During the surgery, Dr. Sandlas will remove the bacteria from the pockets and the tartar from the surface of teeth roots.
Crown Lengthening
Dr. Sandlas provides a crown lengthening procedure that involves reshaping gum tissue, bone, or both to expose more of a tooth. Crown lengthening is a common procedure for patients with a “gummy smile,” where excessive gum tissue around upper teeth makes teeth appear short. Dr. Sandlas will also perform this treatment for patients who need to fix a tooth that broke off at or below the gumline, or to replace a filling or a crown that fell out. Crown lengthening exposes more of the tooth surface and allows your dentist to remove the tooth decay underneath or to place a crown.
Implants
Dr. Sandlas will install dental implants to replace teeth lost due to a disease or accident. Dental implants can replace a single tooth or several teeth or to support other dental fixtures. They secure dentures and bridges in place and prevent them from shifting in your mouth, even when eating or talking. With dental implants, your dentures can feel more natural and comfortable compared to traditional ones, which often cause sore spots or have poor ridges. With implants, no adjacent teeth need to be ground down to hold artificial teeth in place.
